Our journey into the future has begun.
People speak plainly on construction sites, so let's put it bluntly: We have a problem. The construction industry is responsible for 38 percent of CO2 emissions worldwide and accounts for half of the global demand for raw materials alone. That's why our industry must be part of the solution. Because we have one of the strongest levers for a better future. And if we move this lever, a lot will change. STRABAG is rethinking construction. Our clear goal, perhaps the most important in our company's history: We will become climate neutral by 2040.
We will not achieve this goal overnight. It is a process that requires technologies, some of which we first have to develop – and will. We need completely new ways of working that conserve resources and make us less dependent on fossil fuels. We all need to go down this path together. For our common mission: Work On Progress.

More than almost any other sector, the construction industry has a responsibility to develop solutions to make its operations more climate-friendly and environmentally friendly. STRABAG sees the necessary change as a self-commitment – we are working on this progress with all our strenght. Work on progress – our lighthouse projects in three central strategic target areas show what we mean by this.

We build climate-friendly
Climate protection as a priority: ZÜBLIN is helping to build the new subway line 5 for Hamburg. The major project is being built according to a strict timetable for reducing greenhouse gases.
We rely on systematic recycling
Recycling instead of disposal: With a comprehensive earthworks concept, STRABAG has succeeded in systematically recycling large quantities of excavated soil in the A8 Enztalquerung construction project. This conserves increasingly scarce resources of rock, gravel and sand.
What drives us
Construction machinery produces a large amount of CO2. Hydrogen, HVO and electric drives have the potential to power our excavators, wheel loaders etc. in the future. We are already testing these alternative drive technologies today.

Sustainable, innovative, forward-looking – STRABAG makes building in existing buildings an opportunity for the environment and urban development. State-of-the-art technologies create new value from existing buildings and reduce CO₂ emissions.
We bring human expertise and AI together. And optimize building planning
Generative Design offers building planners a wide range of potential for the sustainable design of buildings. We do this by translating architectural knowledge and construction expertise into algorithms. This is how we combine human expertise with artificial intelligence.
We get the building cycle going
Whether concrete or asphalt: at STRABAG, we are driving forward the recycling of building materials at all levels. It is the key to the circular construction of the future.
There is one for everything here
Art, culture, business and gastronomy – RAIQA combines a wide range of uses in a single urban quarter. Right in the heart of Innsbruck, a multifunctional center is being created for Raiffeisen Landesbank Tirol.
